To hire. Or to be hired. You have questions.
OK, Shakespeare would have groaned at that title as loudly as you probably just did. But one thing the Bard didn't have to do that you are, have done and will be doing was interview for a new position along your career path as a Product Marketer. Nor did he have to hire the best Product Marketer he could for his team, as some of you also have the honor of doing. Given the hot and rapid pace of recruiting in Product Marketing, you might have wondered what else could you have done to make that arduous task better and help you stand out in an in-demand field, from both sides of the hiring desk. Yeah, me too. So, after conducting countless interviews of Product Marketing candidates and helping other managers with their hiring - and of course having been under the bright spotlight as a candidate a few times too - I wanted to share what you can do as a hiring manager to improve the decision-making process of offering someone a great new job on your team. Conversely, I will also share some relevant dos and don'ts to those currently or potentially looking at a new position. We will cover a range of short and practical tips including red flags to look out for, questions to ask and how to best answer them, and things you can do to get ready. To once again paraphrase ole Bill himself…you are the master of your own fate, especially when it comes to hiring and being hired.
